As businesses develop and grow, their visions, systems, strategies and processes evolve. When managing change, three main elements must be in place in order to ensure that the transition is effective: the project must be financed; the product must be available and meet the client's needs. These two elements are precise.

The fourth component is the people. It is less easy to create staff inclusion, yet the people are at the core of any process. Without effective, objective leadership and a range of supportive development strategies for individuals and teams, monitored through appropriate appraisal and performance management systems, the creative thinking behind a change process can fail to produce the desired outcomes because the correct attitude amongst the staff has not been engendered and because the secure appointments (recruitment and role allocation) have not been based on pre-determined success criteria.
